Strengthening Parental Relationships Launch: Thursday 27 April 2023

Date: Friday, 03rd Mar 2023 | Category: Events, Toolkits

The Reducing Parental Conflict offer in Hampshire is being renamed: Strengthening Parental Relationships. A new Strengthening Parental Relationships (SPR) Toolkit will be launched on Thursday, 27 April. Practitioners working with children and families in Hampshire are invited to attend.

Conflict between parents is normal, but if exposure is frequent, intense and poorly resolved, this can have a damaging impact on children, resulting in long-term mental health issues and emotional, social, behavioural and academic problems as they grow up.

Today, there is a growing awareness of the importance of the quality of the relationship between parents/carers – whether they are together or separated – and the need to tackle conflict in the best interests of children.

Practitioners working with children and their families (for example, in social care, schools, early years settings, health care settings, sports clubs, or through broader work in the community such as policing or faith groups) are ideally placed to help parents identify when the conflict in their family is becoming destructive. The launch event will include an overview of what resources, tools and training is available to help professionals in their work. Learning will be relevant for professionals from operational to senior management roles.

The launch of the Strengthening Parental Relationships Toolkit will be held virtually via three Teams Live webinars, hosted throughout the day on Thursday, 27 April.
