Learning from case reviews and audits
Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Safeguarding Children Partnerships undertake audits, local learning events and child safeguarding practice reviews to support our collective learning from practice and scrutiny work.
Some of the themes that have arisen from these pieces of work include;
- Parent oriented issues (including; domestic abuse, parental ill mental health and substance misuse).
- Young carers.
- Professional curiosity.
- Information exchange.
- Supervision.
- Resolution of professional disagreement.
- Having honest conversations.
- Family Engagement.
- Identifying and responding to risk, critical thinking and bias.

The National case review collection: a repository of published reports from the NSPCC was launched in 2013 and contains over 2000 case reviews from across the UK, you can search within the library to look at particular features and themes relevant to your role/ sector.
The NSPCC also produces a series of briefings to highlight the learning from reviews on particular themes.
The Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel annual report looks at the child safeguarding system based on incidents occurring during the previous year, identifying national themes.
