Finding out your child, friend or family member has been sexually abused or is at risk of sexual abuse is distressing and you might not know what to do next. These links offer advice and support for parents and carers to help support you and your loved ones and give you the reassurance that you are doing the right thing and that there is information and support out there for you.

Solent Sexual Health Services accept self-referrals for young people aged 13 and over, across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, and Southampton, for sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, pregnancy testing and contraceptive services. Younger children can be referred by paediatricians and will receive a specialist service. https://www.letstalkaboutit.nhs.uk/ or phone 0300 300 2016. The R.O.S.E clinic provides a non-judgemental sexual health service for people at risk of sexual exploitation regardless of age – they take referrals from professionals only.

START – is a new sexual trauma service, operating across Central, West and North Hampshire, bringing together the previous RASAC (Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service) supporting Central, West and North Hampshire and BRASACC (Basingstoke Rape and Sexual Abuse Crisis Centre), also operating in the North of the county. The core service offered by START is a confidential, specialist counselling and support service for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse and/or sexual assault, resulting in sexual trauma. They also offer Peer Support Groups in locations across the county and therapeutic residential week-ends.
