May 2022 Training Opportunities for Hampshire Professionals

12 May 2022 — Hampshire Children Safeguarding Partnership (HSCP) is hosting a diverse range of webinars next month for professionals and volunteers working with children and families who live in the local authority area of Hampshire. Places are available on a first come, first served basis, so be quick to secure your free place.

Advance Development for Professionals on Reducing Parental Conflict – Delivered by Relate, this workshop and accompanying toolkit supports professionals in identifying and understanding the detrimental impact exposure to a level of parental conflict will have on the child/children living in the family.

An Introduction to Risk Assessment and the DASH Risk Indicator Checklist – This webinar provides delegates with an opportunity to understand how the Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour Based Violence (DASH) model was developed, how the DASH Risk Indicator Checklist (DASH RIC) is used and how to ensure good practice when risk assessing victims of domestic abuse.

Lunchtime Learning – Children Who Go Missing from Home/Care – It is known that children who go missing from home or care are at risk of suffering harm and there are specific risks around children running away and the risk of sexual exploitation. This course will provide Hampshire professionals with an introduction to the police definition of ‘missing’, how to report a child or young person ‘missing’ and explore the risks that children might be exposed to whilst ‘missing’.

An Introduction to Peer-on-Peer Abuse – This training supports professionals working with children to identify harmful behaviours, develop their understanding of what harmful behaviours might look like and how to respond appropriately.

WEDNESDAY 25 MAY 2022 09.30 – 11.00

Post Separation Abuse – Using the Courts and Child Contact Arrangements – Domestic abuse and coercive control can continue and even escalate after a relationship has ended. This course seeks to introduce Hampshire professionals to ‘Post Separation Abuse’ and how professionals can protect children from negative immediate and long-lasting effects that could occur.

WEDNESDAY 25 MAY 2022 12.00 – 13.00

An Introduction to Trafficking and the National Referral Mechanism – This course will support learning for all frontline practitioners where a better understanding of trafficking and the National Referral Mechanism is needed. The webinar will support first responders to comply with their statutory responsibilities and to update on recent changes to the HIPS NRM reporting process.

An Introduction to Having Honest Conversations – This course is an introduction to navigating having honest conversations with parents/carers, children and other professionals in an understanding and accepting way.
