Upcoming HSCP Virtual Training (1 – 10 November 2023)

November is a busy month for the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) virtual training offer, with training available on important safeguarding themes such as child sexual abuse, learning from reviews, working with families and harmful sexual behaviour. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so book now to secure your place.

An Introduction to Harmful Sexual Behaviour (Wednesday 1 November 2023 09.30 – 11.00) – An important introduction to the principles of working with children and young people that display harmful sexual behaviour.

An Introduction to Child Sexual Abuse (Wednesday 1 November 2023 13.30 – 15.00) – This online course provides an introduction to sexual abuse for professionals and volunteers working with Hampshire’s children, increasing awareness of the signs and indicators and understanding how to respond and report.

An Introduction to Disguised Compliance (Wednesday 8 November 2023 09.30 – 11.00) – This course will provide a clear introduction to Disguised Compliance and how parents and carers can appear to comply with professionals working to safeguarding children, in order to deflect attention and reduce professional engagement. Delegates attending this training will gain an overview of what practitioners can do to engage with families and keep the focus on the needs of the child.

Learning From Reviews 23/24 (Wednesday 8 November 2023 13.30 – 15.00) – A valuable introduction to learning from reviews for Hampshire Professionals, delegates attending this training will hear the findings and lessons from recent Hampshire child safeguarding practice reviews and audits, become aware of programmes of work undertaken to implement learning in Hampshire and be informed of the themes emerging from National Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews. Delegates will be supported to apply this learning to their own practice.

An Introduction to a Family Approach (Wednesday 8 November 2023 19.00 – 20.30) – A Family Approach is one that secures better outcomes for children (including unborn babies), adults with care and support needs and their families by co-ordinating the support they receive from services that work with adults, children and families. This introductory course explores how support provided by services should be considering problems affecting the whole family.

HSCP offer a range of eLearning courses as part of the virtual offer. ‘An Introduction to Safeguarding Supervision’ provides practitioners, who are both frontline and managerial, with information, tools and techniques to ensure that safeguarding supervisory practice is reflective, constructive and holds service users at the centre of the discussions.
