Strengthening Parental Relationships Toolkit Launched

Date: Friday, 12th May 2023 | Category: Events, Toolkits

Strengthening Parental Relationships (SPR) is Hampshire’s Reducing Parental Conflict offer, a government funded programme which aims to support parents and carers with their relationship. On Thursday, 27 April 2023, a new Strengthening Parental Relationships Toolkit was launched for practitioners working with children and families in Hampshire. The Toolkit equips professionals with the tools to identify and work with families where parental conflict might be becoming destructive.

There is strong evidence that conflict between parents – whether together or separated – can have a significant negative impact on children’s mental health and long-term life chances. While all relationships will experience conflict, it is when conflict is frequent, intense and poorly resolved that it can be damaging to children.

The launch events, hosted via MS Teams Live webinars throughout the day, were attended by 400 multi-agency professionals. Delegates were provided with an overview of the resources, tools and training available to help them in their work to support parents tackle conflict in the best interests of their children. A Parent & Carer’s Strengthening Parental Relationships Toolkit was also launched for professionals to signpost families for further help and resources. Professional feedback of the day was very positive.

If you missed the launch events or would like to learn more about SPR, HSCP host a number of free webinars for professionals that incorporate the newly developed Toolkit. For further information and to book related courses, click on the links below or browse the 2023-24 HSCP Training Brochure:
