Domestic Abuse Strategy
The Hampshire Domestic Abuse Partnership Strategy 2023-2025 aims to put domestic abuse at the forefront of system priorities in Hampshire, building on the strong partnership that has been developed in recent years. This document is a collaborative multi-agency statement setting out how the Hampshire Domestic Abuse Partnership intends to tackle domestic abuse in all its formsĀ through adopting a co-ordinated community response. It is intended to form the overarching guidance, supported by focused action plans, and will underpin how we will work together effectively and consistently to improve lives and reduce harms for victims and survivors, children and their wider families and communities.
In Hampshire it is estimated that 58,100 people over the age of 16 were impacted by domestic abuse last year. Domestic abuse has very significant and devastating impacts on the health and wellbeing of victims, survivors and their children. It is essential that we prevent domestic abuse from happening in the first place and ensure that we provide the best possible care and support to those who are affected. We must also make sure there is a focus on those people who are perpetrating domestic abuse. There are still many challenges ahead; however, this strategy provides us with a strong framework to make the most effective use of our current resources.
By setting out shared priorities and objectives and identifying the areas that need further development, the strategy demonstrates the commitment that the partners have made to work together to tackle abuse and to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse and their families.
This strategy builds on the work already done in our County through the Domestic Abuse Partnership Board and partner agencies, and the duties in the Domestic Abuse Act enable us to go further with these important priorities.
Since the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, children that have been exposed to domestic abuse are now recognised as victims of domestic abuse in their own right, rather than just witnesses.
