Identity

Simply put – your identity is ‘who you are’. Among the exciting changes taking place in adolescence is the process of self-discovery. Our children are working to figure out who they are, which can be shaped by lots of different factors, such as family, cultural and societal expectations, experiences with school and friends and exposure to the media. Young people also take active steps and make choices that shape their identity. They select the environments and people they want to be around and adjust their beliefs and behaviours based on feedback.
