Dental neglect
Definition
Dental neglect is defined by the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry as: ‘The persistent failure to meet a child’s basic oral health needs, likely to result in serious impairment of a child’s oral, or general health, or development.”
Accessing dental care
Dentaid The Dental Charity work in partnership with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) to provide dental clinics across the county for patients who are residents in Hampshire and Isle of Wight and entitled to free NHS dental treatment and/or facing health inequalities that make it difficult to access treatment. This includes:
- New and expectant mothers
- Children
- People at risk of homelessness and social exclusion
- People on low incomes and benefits
