Monday – Safeguarding Children who are Victims of Domestic Abuse
Welcome to the first day of the HSCP Safeguarding Practice Week, Safeguarding Children who are Victims of Domestic Abuse.
Listen to Czarina Jacobs, from Stop Domestic Abuse, explaining what to do if we are worried about domestic abuse.
Today, we will be focusing on two essential Domestic Abuse Toolkits: One designed for multi-agency professions and another specifically for parents and carers seeking guidance and support.
Domestic Abuse Toolkit for Professions
The Domestic Abuse Toolkit was created in collaboration with the Hampshire Domestic Abuse Partnership (HDAP), to ensure a coordinated and effective response to domestic abuse.
All practitioners from any agency or organisation working with unborn babies, children, adults and families in Hampshire can access the toolkit for free. Within its pages, you will find vital information regarding the Hampshire Domestic Abuse Strategy, a comprehensive overview of domestic abuse and its impact on children, as well as practical tools, procedures, and available resources.
Live Toolkit Tour
To start Safeguarding Practice Week, HSCP and HDAP invite you to one of two free live Domestic Abuse Toolkit tours hosted on MS Teams. This session will help you familiarise yourself with the toolkit and the resources available to you as practitioners, allowing you to adopt a domestic abuse-informed approach when working with children and families in Hampshire. Alternatively, you can sign up for our Domestic Abuse Toolkit eLearning, which provides an excellent overview of the toolkit and can be accessed at your convenience.
Domestic Abuse Toolkit for Parents and Carers
The Domestic Abuse Toolkit for Parents and Carers is a small toolkit providing essential information on identifying domestic abuse. It is a useful starting point and provides details of local and national organisations to support child and adult victims as well as information on services for perpetrators of abuse.
If you do one thing…
Take action: Explore the Domestic Abuse Toolkit. Share and discuss the resources with colleagues and consider how they can support your safeguarding practice.
