Safeguarding Adolescents Strategy and Toolkit Launched

9 December 2021 — Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) and the Isle of Wight Safeguarding Children Partnership (IOWSCP) today launched its new Safeguarding Adolescents Strategy and associated online Toolkit to support professionals working with adolescents and their families.

Adolescence is a transitional phase of physical and psychological development between childhood and adulthood. The Safeguarding Adolescents Strategy and Toolkit aims to equip the children’s workforce across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with the skills to identify and provide an early effective response and intervention to safeguard children at risk of harm during what can be, a very vulnerable time.

Over 400 professionals, from schools to district councils, attended one of two virtual launch events, ‘Safeguarding Adolescents in Hampshire, and Isle of Wight’, held today.

The launch, presented in association with the Youth Commission, introduced the new strategy, toolkit and associated training.  Learning from relevant Child Safeguarding Practice reviews were discussed and multi-agency professionals provided ‘windows into practice’ in the form of case examples to provide delegates with an insight into the toolkit’s application. Feedback to the events were overwhelmingly positive.

If you missed the launch events, the HSCP host a number of free webinars for professionals relevant to safeguarding adolescents which incorporate the newly revised strategy and toolkit.
