LAUNCH EVENT: Responding to Neglect in Hampshire and Isle of Wight

Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) and Isle of Wight (IOW) Safeguarding Children Partnership (IOWSCP) will next month be launching the revised Neglect Strategy 2020-23 and associated online Neglect Toolkit for professionals working with children and families in the Hampshire and IOW areas.

To mark the launch, two MS Teams webinars, Responding to Neglect in Hampshire and Isle of Wight, are scheduled for Tuesday 9 February 2021, 13.00-14.30 and a twilight session on Thursday 11 February 2021, 18.00-19.30. Attendance from partner agencies across the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Children Safeguarding Partnerships is encouraged. Learning will be relevant for professionals from operational to senior management roles.

Delegates attending the free launch event will achieve the following learning outcomes:

• Identify the local and national context associated to child neglect.
• Introduce and highlight the effective use of the Neglect Strategy and associated toolkit.
• Share learning from relevant Child Safeguarding Practice reviews.
• Promote how the Strategy and Toolkit can support professional practice.
• Explore how key messages can be disseminated and opportunities for further training.

Neglect comes in many forms, all of which put children in danger and can have long term impacts on their physical and mental wellbeing. The Neglect Strategy and Neglect Toolkit have been developed to support frontline professionals and managers who work with children and families to identify and respond to issues of neglect.
