Lay Member opportunity with HSCP

Are you passionate about the safeguarding of children and young people?

If so you may be just who the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) is looking for.

We’re looking for a voluntary Lay Member to join us in making sure that safeguarding children in Hampshire is effective and well-coordinated.

Safeguarding children and young people depends on all agencies, working well together and fulfilling their safeguarding responsibilities. The HSCP is a multi-agency forum that brings together senior representatives from organisations and agencies that work with Hampshire’s children and young people. It helps co-ordinate safeguarding work, ensuring it is effective and improves outcomes for children and young people.

Lay members help us to maintain a focus that reflects the needs of the community. It’s a challenging role but you’ll be well supported, receive training and be reimbursed for your travel expenses. You’ll need to attend our Partnership meetings and to occasionally be involved in additional work such as attending sub-group meetings and consultation with community groups.

Having a real commitment to improving the lives of children, you’ll be confident in your ability to communicate well and live within Hampshire. Lay Members do not need to have any formal qualifications but in order to ensure that they are independent of current services candidates cannot have worked for one of our partner agencies for at least five years.

Additional information on the application process:

Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and Hampshire Children’s Services are committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all employees, workers and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. These posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
